The Digital Seminar Goals & Objectives

Inspire, educate, and network with people from the Swedish industrial sector and in closely related areas, all with interest in platforms and ecosystems.

There has been a radical and disruptive change for the last ten years. Big tech giants replace companies that we used to know as the most valuable and successful. A vast majority of these companies are formed in the US, and Asia and Europe are falling behind. This exponential change took off in the consumer space, but your industry is up next. It is already happening, but we sometimes don’t see it because the business mechanics is different from what we are used to. It is about being digital to the core and benefit from low distribution costs, but it is also about a different business model.

That business model is the key to how these new big tech companies get resources for their continued innovation. One major factor to their success is the use of platforms to match needs and orchestrate many actors in their ecosystems. Today, everybody needs a platform and ecosystem strategy to remain competitive in the new digital business landscape.

If you are working with digital strategies and want to see how the digitalization technologies everybody is talking about fit together in the bigger business picture – join this digital seminar. You will hear from academic researchers, practitioners in the industry, and examples of others who have already done it. It affects everybody from SME’s to large enterprises. Sweden needs to join Europe’s Fightback movement!

Digitala Stambanan

The Industrial Digital Movement (Digitala Stambanan) is an enabler for international competitiveness in the process and manufacturing industry. It is a collaborative project between the Strategic Innovation Programs Produktionen2030 and PiiA financed under the framework of the ”Samverkansprogrammet Uppkopplad industri och smarta material”.

Sweden is today one of the world’s most competitive export countries. But the conditions for the industry are now changing dramatically. The analog economy leaves room for a new digital market system. Data streams become at least as important as physical flows of raw materials and products. Exchanging data and information quickly and smoothly to both streamline and create new values along the industrial value chain will be crucial for continued competitiveness.

We need a digital highway. The Digitala Stambanan project investigates and maps the needs and opportunities of digital information exchange in Swedish industry. Increased digitalization creates completely new opportunities for speed and flexibility in the supply chains. This allows companies to collaborate with each other and with customers in completely new ways.
